The Local Attractions

Vera Playa covers the beach area between Puerto Rey and Villaricos. The resort has earned the prestigious blue flag for its 8 km of white sandy beaches: Las Marinas, Puerto Laguna, Pueblo Laguna, Puerto Rey and El Playazo, the later reserved for nudists.

Vera Playa also offers the only Water Park in the area, Parqu Acuatico.

Garrucha is a beautiful and lively fishing town that still retains much of its original charm. It is famous for its “Garrucha prawns” – only fished in the local waters. Garrucha has a magnificent beach and promenade with an excellent selection of restaurants and bars with many superb seafood restaurants found along the seafront serving fresh catch of the day.

Mojacar Playa is approximately 10 kilometres from the apartment. Here you will find an array of restaurants, bars, shops, banks, nightclubs, most of which are opened all year round. Mojacar Playa also has an excellent sandy beach and long promenade.

Aguilas with its rich micro climate has an average annual temperature of 23 degrees centigrade. A wide variety of outdoor activities are available from rock-climbing or trekking through beautiful countryside to scuba diving in the warm waters of the Mediterranean. The town is noted for its underwater landscapes, attracting divers from across the world.

Mojacar Pueblo, the ancient Moorish village is located on the top of a mountain looking out to sea from 172 metre high vantage point. In its narrow white streets pretty cube-like whitewashed houses are perfumed by the abundant flowers which decorate the house-fronts. In June, Mojacar Pueblo boasts the fantastic Moors and Christians festival with mock battles, fireworks, music and giant paellas.

Vera is a delightful town, which is home to a beautiful old town square, gardens and a bullring. It is a vibrant town with plenty of shops, boutiques, and fantastic restaurants. Very Spanish!

Almeria city is a lively, modern and very Spanish commercial centre with a ferry terminal, sports marina and working fishing port. There’s a wealth of historic sites, museums, art galleries, good restaurants and traditional tapas bars.

The Sierra Nevada Mountains, offering excellent hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter, can be reached in 2 hours. Granada is another place of considerable interest that can also be reached in 2 hours. The apartment is ideally situated near three top class 18 hole golf courses and a 9 hole course, all of which can be easily reached within 15 minutes drive, namely Desert Springs, Marina Golf, Valle del Este and Cortijo Grande. Within 10 minutes drive there is a Go-Karting track that is open all year round.

Mini-Hollywood is a mock-up of an American Wild West village set in the Tabernas Dersert. This set was built for Sergio Leone’s A Fistful of Dollars and also used for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and the Magnificent Seven among around 100 other films. It is a great day out for the whole family with entertainment including mock cowboy shoot-outs, performing parrots and a zoo.

Car Hire

Having searched the internet for the best and most competitive car hire deals we believe www.carjet.com are the cheapest.  They use a range of companies and seem to get better rates than if you approach the same companies direct.  

You can pre book online with no payment needed, then pay by credit card on arrival at the airport.   Please note some car hire companies are not located at the airport and you have to get minibuses to their office to pick up your car and drop it off, generally this is only relates to Murcia Airport and it is only a two minute drive to the offices.

TIPS Don´t forget to bring your print out of the Carjet booking and your driving licence. You will also need the address of where you are staying on the Resort. Car Hire companies only accept payment by credit/debit cards.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Reservations can only be regarded as firm upon receipt of the completed Booking Form and a non-refundable deposit of £100.00. Should the holiday commence in less than 6 weeks, the full payment will be due with the booking form.
  2. Following receipt of the booking form and deposit, the Owner will send written confirmation as formal acceptance of the booking.
  3. A security deposit cheque of £100.00 is also required in case of damage to the property and/or its contents. The security deposit cheque will be held by the Owner and returned within 14 days after the holiday. Should damage and/or breakage costs be more than £100 pounds, the client is responsible for making the extra reimbursement to the Owner. The security deposit cheque is to be paid at the same time as the balance.
  4. A penalty of 50% of the total holiday cost is requested if a cancellation is not notified in writing at least six weeks before the holiday start date.
  5. The Client is strongly advised to take out a fully comprehensive travel insurance policy, including cover for personal liability, personal effects, cancellation costs, medical and emergency expenses and personal accident. The Owner shall not be bound for a liability arising from the actions of the Client and/or party members.
  6. Occupancy begins from 4pm on the arrival date and ends at 10am or earlier on the departure date unless alternative arrangements have been made between the Owner and the Client.
  7. The number of people may not exceed that given on the booking form. The maximum is 4 persons.
  8. The Client agrees to be a considerate tenant, to take good care of the property and to leave it in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the rental period. Although a final clean is included in the rental, the Owner reserves the right to deduct money from the security deposit to cover the cost of any excessive cleaning and washing.
  9. The client agrees to observe the community rules. These are inside the information folder in the apartment.
  10. The Client shall report to the Owner any defects to the property or any breakages to the equipment in the property, without delay so that repairs or replacements can be arranged.
  11. Friends of the Owner shall be allowed access to the apartment at any reasonable time during the holiday occupancy for the purpose of inspection and/or repairs. The Owner and/or friends of the Owner reserve the right to terminate a rental immediately, without compensation where a Client causes nuisance of whatever nature to neighbours or to the property.
  12. The washing of only 1 set of bed linen per bed is included in the holiday price. If the Client wishes to use more sheets during the holiday stay then they are responsible for the washing of them. The Owner reserves the right to deduct money from the security deposit if there is an excessive amount of washing to do at the end of the rental period. If apartment towels are used, they must be washed by the client. Apartment towels are not to be used at the pool or on the beach. Please strip beds when you leave.
  13. NO SMOKING ALLOWED INSIDE THE APARTMENT. If you or anyone in your party smokes, please make sure any smoking is outside.

The Weather

Almeria is a sun baked province situated in the south eastern corner of the Iberian Peninsula with an average annual temperature of 18/19ºC. It has the highest number of hours of sunshine and lowest rainfall in Europe, and therefore comes as no surprise that much of the area is comprised of semi-arid desert-like landscape that is a sparsely populated wilderness. But the province is unusual in that the natural parks have snow capped mountains.

In fact the natural protective barrier of the Sierra de Gádor Mountains means that Almeria is one of the most prolific agricultural zones in Europe with more than 10,000 hectares of commercially cultivated land growing fruit, vegetables and flowers. The province further enjoys a protected status as one Andalucía’s most outstanding wildlife areas with the Cabot de Gata-Níjar Natural Park being its largest coastal reserve.

This warm and dry Mediterranean province has water temperatures during the winter months that are warmer than the air and therefore you can swim in the sea all year round. With its cloudless bright blue sky, the mild climate in Almeria means that all the outdoor activities on offer here can be pursued throughout the year.

The Apartment

The ground floor apartment occupies a corner position providing large gardens to the front and rear of the property. Al Andalus Hills

The 2 bedroomed, 2 bathroomed luxury ground floor apartment Cartuja is situated on Al Andalus Hills located in the region of Andalucia, South-Eastern Spain one of the most charming and un-spoilt area’s along the Costa Almeria Coast. Enjoying the sunniest and warmest climate in the whole of Europe with over 320 days of sunshine per year, it is known as “El Rincon del Embrujo” or the corner of enchantment. There are miles of golden beaches along the coastline with scenic mountains inland.

Al Andalus Hills has been built in the Valle Del Sol (Valley Of The Sun) just outside Vera Playa, only a couple minutes drive to the Blue Flag fine sandy beaches and crystal clear sea of Garrucha and Mojacar and within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the Water Park.

The area is un-spoilt yet offering families, golfers and those that enjoy exploring area’s of natural beauty with so many diverse activities. All you need is close to hand. All you want to do is nearby.

The apartment and development have been built in truly stunning Andalucian style set in a secure pedestrianised gated complex with private gardens and close circuit T.V. Secure allocated sheltered parking is provided within the site. The complex is well maintained with beautifully stocked garden areas.

Al Andalus Hills offers a children’s play area, an outdoor swimming pool open from May until October with a paddling pool for the children. During the winter months the heated indoor pool is available which provides the added benefit of year round water fun.

Every effort has been made to make this complex stand out from all the rest and it does not disappoint! Residents will enjoy the very family friendly site with mainly English and Spanish owners offering complete peace, quiet and relaxation.

The Local Attractions

The beautiful Mar Menor is separated from the Mediterranean by a strip of sand 22km long, which forms a barrier and has created a shallow, warm lagoon. There are over 44km of beaches with protected bays and coves on the sides of the Mar Menor and the water is no more than 7m at its deepest point; this and the absence of tides make the Mar Menor an excellent location for all types of water sports as well as an ideal place for children. The Mar Menor’s waters warm up early in the spring and stay at a fairly consistent temperature throughout the season. The concentration of salt and iodine in the water of the lagoon is reputed to be beneficial to sufferers of rheumatism and skin complaints.

At San Pedro Del Pinatar - There is a nature reserve on the salt flats that is one of the prime areas of ecological importance in Murcia and the famous mud baths in the salt flat area are said to heal skin complaints and rheumatism. Migratory flamingos make their way to Africa via this spot each September an excellent location for watching a variety of migratory birds.

Los Alcazares is the nearest beach to the resort, originally a typical Spanish town. The beaches at Playa de los Narejos and Playa del Espejo have won the famous Q Awards for their high standards. Alongside the beach is a mile long promenade. There is a large marina, excellent shops, restaurants and bars, and a new shopping mall complete with cinema. Each October, the town celebrates its municipal independence, granted in 1983, with a spectacular week long fiesta.

Murcia is a vibrant cosmopolitan city with wonderful architecture, only 15 minutes drive from La Torre. There is a stunning cathedral with year-round exhibitions, wonderful shops and tapas bars, and even a casino.

Cartagena is a historic Roman City. It has a tourist boat that takes you all around the docks of Cartagena, describing a circular route that borders the Lighthouses of Curra and Navidad, the Algameca Chica and the Isle of Escombreras. Tour the town in comfort. Step on board the tourist bus and visit the most important and interesting sights throughout the town. Step off at each stop and make the most of every visit including the Castle of La Concepcion and the Panoramic Lift

 

The Weather

Weather in the Costa Calida is very mild (& well known for it), making it an ideal destination for holiday makers in both the summer & winter months. The Costa Calida & its surrounding areas are sheltered by hills & high mountains allowing for a kind of micro climate. This limits rainfall, & as a result the region enjoys sunshine for in excess of 320 days per year.

The sun is at its hottest during the summer, with temperatures rarely falling below 30°C (86°F). Whereas the typically very mild winters, boast averages of around 18°C (64°F).

The province of Murcia, & therefore the Costa Calida, is famous for its salt lakes (salt is a major export). This has a major knock on effect on humidity levels, & as a result the air is much dryer than in other parts of Spain & Europe. The low humidity levels coupled with a mild climate, mean the WHO (World Health Organisation) have rated this part of Spain one of the healthiest climates on the planet. La Torre Golf Resort

La Torre Golf Resort is the flagship of the Polaris World resorts to be built in the area. The grand entrance is lined with palm trees, water features and benches. Throughout the resort there are lush plants and tropical trees that give the resort a true Mediterranean holiday feel.

The resort is built around a stunning 18 hole course designed by Jack Nicklause. Featuring large lakes and bunkers combining different obstacles which compels you to use all your clubs and put into practice your talent. Around the course you will find all kinds of services to practice golf and improve it, including the Club House, a pro-shop, driving range and golf school.

Besides golf La Torre offers a wide range of holiday facilities including tennis courts, several luxury swimming pools with children’s paddling pool area’s and children’s play area’s.
